Eye care is one of the major healthcare challenge in under developed countries like Pakistan. Above 39 million individuals overall are suffering from visual impairment, and more than half are because of cataracts, which can be surgically treated. A large portion of these individuals are deprived of quality treatment because of high treatment cost that they are unable to pay to see the light. Various studies have demonstrated that sight restoration with cataract surgery is among the most cost-effective interventions in health care.
Bilqees Sarwar Hospital, introduced free eye-care treatments, ranging from laser vision correction to minor surgeries, for the HSNDS factory employees, their families, and the most vulnerable patients in Pakistan. Since its inception, the hospital has served a community of 500,000 citizens and treating up to 3,000 eye patients per month. BSH provides affordable and quality healthcare to those most in-need in the local Lahore community.
