LAHORE, PAKISTAN – Bilqees Sarwar Foundation (BSF) has pledged its full support to NRS International‘s global HeForShe campaign, a trending solidarity movement for gender equality initiated by the United Nations (UN) Women. As the Month of the Woman draws to an end today, the HeForShe video, shot in the manufacturing facility in Lahore, gathered a total reach of 500,000 people across the world.
As part of its commitment to ensure that the private sector plays a key role in achieving gender equality, NRS International launched its HeForShe campaign video that enlisted participation from management and staff of its Pakistan-based manufacturing facility, H. Sheikh Noor-ud-Din & Sons, and its charitable arm, BSF.
Viral reach of 500K people
The campaign video was highly lauded and warmly received by the public, gathering a total reach of 500,000 people on its first seven days of posting in social media.
The HeForShe campaign, represented by UN Women Global Goodwill Ambassador Emma Watson, aims to engage men and boys as advocates and stakeholders to break the silence, raise their voices and take action against inequalities and discrimination faced by women and girls. To date, more than 260,000 men all over the world have already committed and taken a stand for gender equality.
Starting a wave of change
HSNDS has called for the wave of change to start in Lahore, Pakistan, considering that female participation in the country’s labor force is less than 25%, with most women working in the informal sector and less than 1% reaches management level. Despite these challenges, HSNDS prides itself in having a one-of-a-kind women empowerment program, currently employing over 300 women at their factory.
